I hope someone bought all of the car remnants!

Thhe 2 door sedan S33 in '62 had 5900 production units.  Combining the three models of the 2 door sedan for that year, there was a total of 27,000 units.  So maybe not rare, but hard to find.

That car is long gone. If I knew it was so rare, I may have bought it. Who knows, maybe someone did.

Here's another pic I got of the air cleaner housing which includes some of the interior... needs a little tlc.

I had mentioned the air cleaner housing in classifieds but I did not say what it was on.

Thanks Charlie.  I will have to wait until this weekend to compare gauge panels.  Due to pick up the car then.  In the meantime since it needs a rebuild on its carb, I am doing that now to install before driving it home.

Wow, a Meteor found in a salvage yard has to be rare...they made so few of them.  From what has been gleaned from the internet, guys have a hard time finding Meteor specific parts.  My (my) '62 needs a replacement for the cracked front windshield, and is missing the stainless strip that runs along the trunk lid (or maybe it was immediatey below the trunk lid).   May have the windshield located new.  But if you want to go to the time, and the salvage car has the missing stainless piece in good shape, I will buy it from you.

As for the Y in the car, that is interesting too.  It had to be adapted from the original power plant, as they only were offered with 170 I-6, and 221 V-8 in '62.  The only other year of production was '63, and believe a 260 V-8 was added as optional engine.

There was a car at the local pull-a-part a couple months ago that was identified as a '62 Mercury Meteor and it had a Y block. I would say it looked like a fairlane. This shows a portion of the gauge panel that was in it. maybe it will help to verify the identity of the car.

The Mercury Meteor is basically a '62 Fairlane, with different interior appointments, along with some sheet metal difference.

Can a Y fit in without tremendous difficulty?  The car currently has a 221 SBF.
