Does anyone here know of a place in the Baltimore/D.C. area that does rechroming?

Jan

The only local place that still exists are these folks

http://metroplating.com/

I have no experience with them.Only word of mouth.I have been told that they mostly do smaller items and do a good job but are not setup to do large items.

The next closest quality shop is in York Pa.

Please let us know if you try them as I too am seeking a show quality rechromer.

There's Librandi's plating in Middletown PA. I don't know anyone that's used them, but they usually have a stand at Carlisle.

I called metroplating and they can only handle items shorter than four feet.  They gave me the name of Paul's Chrome in PA.  I called them and they estimated $850 for the rear bumper.  I don't know anything about them or whether that is a reasonable price or not.  I will call the other place mentioned and see what they say.  Thanks for the info.

Librandi quoted about $650 which sounded better but I don't know anything about them either.

Paul's Chrome has a very good rep - but expensive. Never had any dealings with him. Don't know about the other one

A quality re-chrome could be better than a NOS. A poor re-chrome could definately be much worse that NOS. Have not had any chrome work done for years but understand costs have skyrocketed because of labor costs and EPA regulations.

Pauls is advertised in every mag out there so they are a well known reputable plater, personnaly have never used them or know anyone who has. the only bumper chromer we had around my home town when I was a kid moved to Bangor Maine many many years ago, I doubt they still exist it was called Cobb's bumper chroming.
