They're clearly misled. I'll have to check it out, though.

What a bunch of BS. any high performance build they go to shaft mounted rockers, solid lifters, They are coming out with late model Y blocks with extended skirts, Side oiler, numerous features are copied from this design and it don't make it, go figure. I bet the small block disposable puke motor is there.

Flew to PA today and had to get a mag for the airplane, you guessed it, I had to read the HRM BS. But after reading the story and finding out it was based only on readers opinions, it was a no brainer. all these readers have been brainwashed with the scrub for so long it would be like me asking a country music fan who was a better guitarist, Joe smo country man or Jeff Beck. Of coarse they would pick Joe smo because they don't know who Jeff Beck is because they are stuck in this dark tunnel constantly getting brainwashed by Peterson Publishing.

Even here in Oz we know the bias of the press towards certain engine and vehicle combinations, but when you get down to it who cares. I don't use Y blocks because some magazine says they are good bad or indifferent. I use them because "I like them" and I like to stick it up the uninformed. You are never going to change nearly 60 years of bad press. Certain aspects of the original design were well ahead of the times. From what i understand of all the negativity, the only failing was bore spacing, which restricted it from being bored to the mystical 4" bore. What will the press say about the new blocks that are being manufactured. You can be sure they won't call it a Y block.
For mine, it ain't going to change my life or thinking.
Please excuse the rambling of a biased Y block owner.
