Picked it up from the body shop today. Waiting to put the windshield back in until I can get the dash pad installed. It has been a long time since I installed the last one. Not fun as I recall. Going from black and white to all red interior. Paint is not perfect but the best since I have had it. Decent show car job and excellent driver/drag racer paint job. Waiting for block to come back from the maching shop and hopeing Mummerts heads get here on schedule in April.

Its a ball every time I get behind the wheel. Unfortunately the leak down test was not good. See post in Tech about odd oversized pistons. Talked to Mummert. Two more months to get heads. Need to get back to body shop tomorrow or Friday to check progress. Will post more photos. Hope to pull pistons tomorrow. Good news it cylinder bores look good. Had a couple of bad valves and one head gasket was leaking and the rings were aparently shot on a couple of pistons and not too good on the rest. Now I know why it had not been running the way it used to! Leak down test sure tells you what is going on inside the engine.

Nice! It's great to have a car for a long time, with lots of stories. When you drive it I'm sure you will have a flood of memories.

Got a ton of small parts to strip and paint. Need to call Mummert next week to check on status of heads and discuss cam one more time. Will run compression check and leakdown test next week. If everything checks out will go with Mummert's heads and new cam and lifters. Engine was rebuilt back in 1980 and has few miles on it. Will do new gaskets and seals and strip and repaint everything. This is the first car I picked out and bought and paid for myself back in 1965 when I was 21. Have been through a lot with it. Had a lot of fun and got into my share of trouble with it.

Should have the exterior painted by next week. The fun begins when I get it back from the body shop.
