Daniel's 63 Mercury needs a new neutral safety switch; also operates the back up lights.

anybody have any idea how I can locate the correct one?  there seems to be a number of these switches, all similar looking, but apparently different enough to have separate parts numbers and identified in some cases by the transmission in the car.  its got a "Merc-O-Matic" 3 spd tranny w/390 engine.

thanks, Mark

Is it a trans mount switch? What year is the trans - that will tell you which one to buy.

column-mounted switch; '63 car, and hopefully same on the tranny, although we have been discovering a few "oddities" as we work on the car... '64 trunk lid and door panels, etc...

If its got the original column, then its quite possible that the Fords of the same year and same transmission had the same switch. I would start there. I'm not quite sure when the C6's came into being. I know the C4's had the switch on the trans.
