thanks for reply

have found one or two on the web some chrome steel some spun but most take quite small filters so i'll stick with what i have, it takes a 240cfm wix filter (for a checker cab?) may try later for a one off spun version

Stuey, The air cleaners were made by a metal shaping company in Ca. to duplicate the original M-355 Lincoln set-up . They were rather expensive.. I would think there would be something close to what you want available from some mfg.

These use an early MoPar filter element

morning Royce

congrats on a fantastic job, i'm green with envy

please tell me about the air cleaner filters and cans

i'm working on a Y-Block for a 56 truck with Johns alloy heads and trying to make it looking period correct. i just obtained a can from a 58 edsel but despite being quite large the filter is only rated at 140cfm. i have a can that came with the truck that looks vaguely simlar to the ones you are using its about 10" diam. the filter is rated at 240 cfm which is not too bad but it is a bit too close to the can wall. if i could get a can similar but about 12" diam i would settle for that. i have looked at the wifes sauce pans but they are a bit too heavey and lack shape.

thanks for any help

As far as I know JT450x does not mean anything. I think it's a made up designation just to make it look a little more sexy.. Kinda like XR-7 or Magnum 500.

If you would like to read the full story on it, the magazine is Oct 56 Hot Rod

Great looking car! Does JT450x mean something? It is also on the license plate. I can't read the article in that scan.
