Well, after building 2 hot rods recently (y block powered), i,m back to 57 ranchero resto i started 5-6 yrs back, story of car was that it had dealer installed mcculloch blower and ran at santa anna drags then sat in panel shop for over 20 yrs , when it was sold off in lein sale? true or not who knows but car has 39.000 miles and mint interior, so think its correct. The blower and brackets etc had dissapeared over the years and i didnt want engine that was in it at time of sale. It has T86 O/D trans and strangest thing i have ever seen are 3 grease zerks along tailshaft length opposed to each other, maybe to balance shaft by amatuer? Any how i have removed everything prior to getting under car and frame sandblasted and also in the bed area, no rust but seller had handpainted in there to clean it up. I had done nearly all the body work prep earlier. It has neat old style tac on column and found vacuum hose with guage fitting under dash, for boost guage.

My plan is to run VS60 Mcculloch y block and pretty well restore it to original theme, meadow mist green/white, one of my favourite colors. So guys i will keep intouch with project. regards bill.

yyy

Aussi Bill: You're referring to Santa Anna CA ? This is a long shot, but I believe Les Ritchey, aka Performance Associates, ran a Supercharged Ranchero around there at the Drags in 57-58. (Les was killed in a racing accident some time in the 60s.) It was a regular winner at more than one track. I believe it was a class track record holder at the time.. could it be the same car?!...

Paul, who knows, but thats interesting regardless. i cant see much done anywhere for serious racing but they were early days and things were simple then. It has dual exhausts with fomoco mufflers. regards bill.Smile
