Hello y guys.

I buyed a pinion oil seal from a local dealer the other day. National 5778, but it dosen fit very well. The one i got was where edgy, and it was to big to fit in the rear end. The one that was inn the car was very flat, and the outher dimension was smaler than the one i got. Any one have had the same problem ? The car is a 55 crown vic

In '55 thwere were two different rear ends used.  Passenger cars had a removable third member, station wagons, sedan deliveries, and police cars had a cover on the back of the rear end.  Your parts supplier may have looked up the wrong rear end.
