I've done a couple of quick laps on a bike and it is an amazingly scarey piece of road.
Steep, winding, narrow, nearly all blind corners and with concrete barriers at your elbows.
I hammered my 1,000 cc bike up the mountain and still couldn't get anywhere near the speed that the cars can get up to.
The TV doesn't do justice to just how much the topography changes

I lived in Bathurst for 10 years. So the race not only is special because it's a great race but also because of the memories it evokes. For those of you that are unaware the curcuit is a tourist drive and access to the many properties around the mountain most of the time and anyone can drive it. It's something you can only experience first hand. A difficult piece of road at leagle speeds (60km/h) I've lifted a wheel through the esseses. I had a zh fairlane at the time and the 351c labored and backshifted it's way up the mountain. One of the most challenging racetracks in the world. Cheers Warren

Yes I watched it Lon, when I wasn't dozing off here and there, That was Darryl Waltrip who went for the ride and over there to televise it on Speed channel. I think Cusso raced but not in his vintage ford, that would have been much more exciting! My dogs name is Holden, where he got that I don't know, thats what they called him when we got him from the pound.

Bill , Did you get to watch Bathurst ??? Ford didn't do so well but it was still a great race .I watched the news this morning and there was a former NASCAR driver ( I think ) being taken for a few hot laps around Mt Panorama ( Bathurst )in one of the race cars . He seemed to enjoy it ,when he wasn't screaming ???? I think he was impressed with our famous race track . Lon

Billy: Are you referring to the Ozzy Super Cars? I saw that Ad also. Sometimes also seen on the Speed Channel. They really go at it! Bathhurst raceway is where the vintage cars also run, including the guy that runs a 56 Ford Sedan, that was clocked there at 142 mph on the straight!
