OK DOKI I am home and I am a good canidate for the hard luck award .I stopped for gas sunday about 44 miles from the Missouri river in Ilinois and broke the 56. It died and when it started up ,was the damnest noise ,end results was #2 Piston in about 1000 pieces, a really bent rod ,a 4 piece camshaft ,5 piece cam thrust plate.
With a lot of Help and parts from my friend John Finocchiaro another block, a cam, 8 pistons/rings and another friend Bob Kline (my appoliges if I spelt his name wrong),we put a engine together and I drove it home to Jersey with no probulms untill that IDIOT in a Lexas tryed to punch mydoor in a block from home.
John has some pictures will git him to post I cannot git it to work for me!!!

Hoppy: Sorry to hear of your troubles. I don't know what else to say. I did enjoy being pitted next to you, and really appreciated the sharing of your tent on those HOT days.

Bob. Sure hate to hear about the trouble you had. The engine was one thing but getting hit in the door was a real bummer. I’ll be waiting for the picture of the damage.

That's a real bummer Hoppy on both accounts . Sure hope things work out and you can get things back on track.

Glad that at least you made it ok. And the Ford will live to fight another day. How bad did it tear up the Lexus? Chuck
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

OK well try this again (stupid computer1/2 hr of typing wasted)
I was running in left lane to turn left at next light was watchin this old Fart in the Lexus when he came over I moved left and stood on it to git away from him,So he missed my pass door, bet them pipes woke him up.
All in all I was lucky John had the spare parts for a .060 292 Replaced the block and slid in a Isky E-4 cam he got with it the block has a lot better deck hight .014" as to .035" on old block. So It should run better ( know It sounds A LOT better)idles at 500 RPM with about 15" vacumn.
Trip back I got about 16.4 MPG an about1/2 qt oil,was checking it over wen I got home Pulled plugs a touch of tan on insulater and a little black 1/16"on gnd strap.I reset the valves.017" ,and a stone cold engine I got 125#on first pump and 175-185# on 4 pump(it's a bitch on a hot engine and I can't were gloves to work on anything).
I guess I will have to git going on the "G" heads I bought from Bill Duncan in 2009 and slide the C3 steel shim gaskets I bought awhile back, lets see better flowing heads ,bigger valves, more compression,a little more cam that should wake it up ???? Damn I just remembered that Paxton/McCollugh Dad bought about 40 +years ago in a box in the attic,Damn I'm nuts but it's fun RIGHT???

That failure would definately ruin a persons day. And then to get hit on the way home. Some times despite the best efforts and intentions, nothing goes the way we want it... Hope things are better now.. A question if I may. Was the engine failure by chance the result of a dropped valve?

No I would say not while I had the head off to renue the short block i filled the chambers with mineral spirits and blew compressed air up all ports ,only 3 of the exhaust valves showed a slight amount of leakage no intakes ,I lapped the exhausts before I put it back togetherNo marks on any of the other pistons and the valves looked good too.
I have always felt that your gonna brake something once in awhile,if you can't stand that risk you better have a show car or play golf, and I dislike both!
Only think of it was assembled with cheap no name offshore pistons,as I said there is not one mark/ name or anything on any of the other pistons and they look new skirts are still shinny new looking and inside the pistons look new???
Wasent even pushing it I stopped for gas and the price was over $4.00 gal so I only put $10.00 bucks in and went down road 20/30miles I saw this other place and stopped again to fill up ,i t was running good as I pulled into lot it stalled and I restarted and It started clattering, and the noise sounded like the drivers side, but it was # 2 that blew up???? Evin with the noist it was idiling good I walked back and felt the exhaust pipes it wasn't missing???
