2 sets of 223"- 0.30 oversize pistons for sale. NOS in boxes. I believe these may also be an oversize fit for a Y-blk 272. (?). I looked at them, one or two had a bit of surface corrosion on them. they fit 256 not 272.

They fit 272 if the 239 crank (3.10 stroke) is used, this puts them close to 0 deck height.

What was I thinking, 256 and 272 are the same bore, just different stroke so if you put the 3.10 crank in a 272 you make it 256.

Now the question is, how tall was the pin height on the 256/239 pistons? Is it the same as the 223 pistons?

A price wasn't mentioned. However, he seemed somewhat anxious to move them. Just checked the 57 Ford manual. Most of the specs given for the 223/272 pistons are the same. However, didn't see a piston pin height spec. The only variation given is top of the piston to deck. 223= 0.0235-0.0415 & 272= 0.019-0.031. So ..?

223 piston compression distance is 1.765, 272 is 1.875 so a 223 piston in a 272 would be .110 lower than a 272 piston.

Thats odd, although I have a few 223's around, I never opened one up. How come I always heard stories of people using the 223 pistons in a 272 with the 239 crank and building a little high revving screamer?
