Gary.  Thanks for the link with the pictures.  Those pics pretty well say it all.

As Gary mentions, small fires are cropping up all around me simply due to the drought.  But for the most part, a majority and largest of the fires are to the south of me.  I can observe large smoke trails on the horizon on occasion but for most of the time, just lots of haze in the sky.  Everything directly around me is like a tinderbox though and it wouldn’t take much to light off a fire.  A piece of broken glass lying on the ground is all it would take.  The immediate twenty five acres or so around me has been mowed down to the dirt so that any fire around the house and shops can be better contained.  Been trying to keep up with the days over 100°F this year and today should make 85?  The forecast for today is 105°F while yesterday was 104°F.  Finally starting to see a break in the summer heat.

Ted is north of Austin Texas I am south of austin and the worst fire is east of Austin. Everything is so Dry that there are small fires almost daily all over the state. The fires east of Austin have burned over 1400 homes as of last count. Send Rain if Possible!

I gather there are seriouse losses from news reports, occurring in several areas of Texas. Ted, since you are on here, I presume all is o.k. in your area?
