Y-Guy Texas:    I've often said "you can't say cheap and hobbie" in the same sentence,

              but my son, Reed & I are building a turbocharged 125cc & 175cc gas & fuel

Bonneville bike, out of a Yamaha TTR 125. We hope to get it finished for

this years event, so we can "Play" with Charlie & Todd.

Mine is not far removed from cars. I like to design and build things which usually has something to do with mounting and/or actuating some device. I've done some work for tractors and vintage stationary engines. One time I had to recreate a lever only using pictures from several different angles and the remains. That was fun. Every problem is different and requires a different approach which I like because I get bored easily which is why, even though I enjoy working on my own stuff, I couldn't be a mechanic to make a living. Plus my attention to detail is too high and I'd never survive in a flat rate world, but mine would be the best stuff leaving the shop.

Bill, you and Reed are just full of surprises! How about some pictures and by the way, who is the pilot? I'll let you know when I get ready to go to Montgomery.

Y-Guy Glenn:   Reed & I have always wanted to go to Bonneville but we had to

take some type vehicle, and a motorcycle is much cheaper(lol)

Jamie Hacking(Monster Kawasaki) says he will ride it(Reed builds

turbo's for him) I plan on riding it in one class, IF I can lose about 20 lbs.

We are just going for a good time and enjoy the "Happening".

Guys for me thats a tough one. I've built kit radios, built and occasionaly flown RC and control line airplanes. Built all sorts of model boats, cars and planes. But I always come back to motorsports, and Hot Rods. My Y passion started just after High school with a 57 Ford convertible. Took a long break until I retired from the Army. During those days I was involved with just about any type of competitive motosport involving cars. I've been hill climbing, drag racing, dirt track racing, SCCA racing and probably some more I've forgotten. Most of the time I've been working in the Pits but occasionaly I was the one driving. Once I retired from the Army my 56 Vicky came my way and its been Y's ever since. I still like all sorts of motorsports but really seem focused on the Y. That is other than killing the "enemies" in computer games like Call of Duty or Crysis. Thats about it for me. Chuck in NH

Oh yeah, and making new friends! BigGrin

Y's guys rule!

Doesn't seem like there would be time for anything else besides sewing and quilting for Corene and building race cars for me, but we do ride bicycle quite a bit.  We average from 2-3,000 miles per year.

After another serious crash a year ago, we changed to recumbent bicycles.

Hers is a hotrod that I rebuilt from the ground up with a pink and black theme.

Mine is a rat rod that is very functional, but very ugly with primer paint frame and torn seat cover.  (Hey, a Mexican blanket seat cover would be cool!)

I found them both in a pile at a yard sale.
