What follows was posted a while ago by Dinosaur. I copied it and put it in a file for future reference. It sounds like a good lead for you... Those Merc WAGON taillights will fit all 55 and 56 Fords. They look really good in Fords, especially T-birds. If you do find a pair, yes, they will go for huge bucks. And then consider how nice they will be after all these years. Lotsa pits in the housings, lenses sun-bleached, and cracked. What are we to do? Go to www.leelenses.com They have some really cool tailights, and lenses. They don't advertise, I can't understand why. Anyhow, they have the Merc taillights in question, with or without bezels. The bezels are fiberglass, paint them and install. There are places that can chrome that stuff if you want, but I can't remember who. Anyone into the old vintage look should pay a visit to this site, lotsa neat lights. Oh yeah, the Merc lenses with bezels are $190, can't buy used ones for that price.

Hope this helps!

I've been running a set of the fiberglass repops on MoonShadow for years. I like them painted to match the car it makes them look molded in. The lens have stayed clear and shiny too. My only complaint is the lens is a very dark red. Without LED lights they didn't seem very bright. Chuck in NH
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

Hi, Carl. I just got the June issue of Hemmings. Page 416, Ford 1954-Up Parts for Sale, middle of the center column, '55 Merc wagon taillights... Butch in Ohio; phone (937) 776-3031; prices and pictures @ www.swapsellit.com I didn't check the web site to see what he's asking. Everything's negotiable anyway, isn't it? Regards,

It was going to cost me $500.00 to have a pair plated plus trying to find lenses,so my 56 stock tail lights look just fine. Carl

Hi, Carl. I KNOW what you mean about the cost factor. LOOKS can be like HORSEPOWER. How much are you willing to pay to generate what you'd LIKE to have? Life seems to be choices and compromises for a lot of us. If something costs too much of what I've got, it takes the fun out of having/doing it for me. Be well and enjoy the summer weather! Regards,
