Does anyone have a complete electric choke that will fit a 1957 AFB? Hot air or manual ok too. Other years and models would probably also work. The Carter number on the carburetor is 2441SA, and a Ford ID on the airhorn is ECZ9510AA. Was this originally found on 312s in Ford, Thunderbird, Mercury, or all three?

dinosaur, I need the cap and thermostat assembly, three cap keepers and their scews, the aluminum body, and the one link. Dont need the choke plate or shaft. It is not an urgent matter, but I would like to get it whenever possible.

Hi, Mike.
As always, Dinosaur is right on. My 49-59 Ford Car Parts Text manual lists the ECZ 9510-AA Carter AFB as being used only on 1957 Ford passenger cars with 312s and automatic transmissions, not on the 312 single quad '57 T-Birds.
All the ECZ 9510-AAs I've found in my geographic area have come off of '57 312 Mercs. Ted Eaton has previously indicated in another post that he's seen lots of the Carter AFBs on '57 312 Fords in his area of Texas.

The AFB I had on my '58 Ford 292 back in '63 came off a '57 Merc 312. Not sure if it was auto or stick.

Mike: Your initial post asked about an electric choke. Since the Edelbrock carbs are descendents of the AFB, maybe they have an electric choke that will fit.

Mike: Your initial post asked about an electric choke. Since the Edelbrock carbs are descendents of the AFB, maybe they have an electric choke that will fit. John, I was thinking the same thing. At the time of the first post I didnt know if the carb came with elec. or hot air. After getting a glance of some pics it looks to have been hot air automatic, which always has been a problem for me. Will see what the core from John looks like. I contacted an ebay seller who had a rebuild kit, offered to buy, and havent heard back from him for 4 or 5 days. Really need a rebuild kit. The carb looks to be a very good core.

It turned out that John couldnt locate the old '57 Carter. But I found a NEW complete hot air choke for the carb. Amazing!
