Hey all. I'm a newbie to the forum here. I'm helping a kid get his grandpa's '57 pickup back on the road, and the 312 block in this thing is worn beyond re-sleeving. And since I've never been a big fan of the re-sleeve I told him I'd just try to find him a replacement block. Any leads? I'm in the Nashville Tennessee area.

Is it really a 312? What kind of wear does it have? If it's already at 3.86" bore, then you're right, it's a good time to look for another block. If it's not, then you will very likely be fine with an overbore.

I've got a couple of 292 blocks if that helps. Closer to you.
