Never saw the Bean Bandits but their fame reached all over, even to small town Missouri in the 50's. I always thought they would be a great bunch to be around. Sorry to hear about Joaquin Arnett's passing. I'm sure he will be missed. Chuck in NH

Got this link to Hemmings on line. Joaquin Arnett was a local hero and drag racing pioneer dumping hugh amounts of nitro into flathead Fords. The Bean Bandits were running in the 140mph range in the early 50's in cars I wouldn't want to exceed the speed limit in.

The Bean Bandits are still active in the San Diego area.

Later the Bean Bandits got into land speed racing. Arnett's son Sonny was killed in a crash at Bonneville a few years ago.
