I could just kick myself right now! TWO reasonably priced sets came through on the HAMB and I was too late on both.
Bump to the top. If anyone has a set they are looking to part with I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Ryan

It seems to me by a few comments here and there that if the covers are remade, like most things they,ll be too pricey for most so back to square one. Better to ask and receive, then to never ask at all. They might be more reasonable than what people are wanting for their used stuff right now. It's worth a shot in my opinion.

Demand is increasing which is why used prices are increasing. If we don't ask for new stuff, prices will only increase because fewer and fewer will be available with more and more people wanting some. They may not be cheap to begin with but I guarantee that if we don't ask for them, we'll be in a worse position 5 or 10 years down the road. The only way to get prices down is to get new stuff in production. The way we do that is by showing the companies capable of producing them that there is a demand. When new stuff is readily available it tends to impact the used parts market, and the used parts generally go down in price. At that point, only the period correct purist will fork out the dough for a pristine original set, possibly paying more for them than the new set they can buy. Nothing is going to be cheap for the Y-block, compared to the rest, when it's first produced. That's just a cold hard fact. It'll take time for prices to come down but don't expect to ever be paying sbc prices for parts.

If any of you guys are on Facebook you can go to the "Edelbrock Performance" wall HERE, click that you "like" them, and then comment that you want them to re-pop their valve covers for y-blocks. I checked Edelbrock, Jeg's, Summit, etc. No price listed and Summit and Jeg's don't list them in their catalogs as of a this morning. Very curious to see what they will be asking.
