Does anyone know of a good pair of headers that will fit on a 1958 Ford Fairlane with a 292 Y-Block engine??? I've seen many Y-Block headers but mainly for trucks. Can anyone suggest where I could find these? I'm trying to avoid making my own. Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you looking for the "look" of headers or a performance boost? Also depends on how much money you want to spend. Ted just did a test of all sorts of headers. Maybe a search on this site would bring it up. Or its in Y-Block magazine. Jerry Christensen makes a really nice set of free flowing headers for the Y-Block cars. Unfortunately there are not too many options because of our motor mount locations. Chuck in NH
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

Has Ted completed the header test? I haven't seen anything about it yet. I'm anxious to see the results.

Looking for a performance boost. I'm switching out my 2v carb for a dual quad setup. I'm using the Factory Ford 2x4 with the Transdapt adapters and (2) Edelbrock 500cfm carbs. I figured my stock exhaust manifold would restrict my flow. I've seen Jerry's header on John Mummert's site but there a bit expensive for my budget. I've searched this forum but did'nt come up with anything on those tests. What do you guys think of the Red's Headers??? There more in my budget.

If I'm not mistaken, Ted had a bottleneck with the reds headers when performing the intake testing. If it's performance you want, it's performance you're going to have to pay for.

I believe Jerry was also working on a new header similar to the Hedman design but with better flow design. I'll check with him at Columbus. Chuck in NH

charliemccraney (8/30/2010) Has Ted completed the header test? I haven't seen anything about it yet. I'm anxious to see the results. The header test is not yet complete. Have quite a bit of random data where I’ve tried two or three sets on different Y engines but the big test where all the exhaust systems are tried in a back to back test on the same engine is yet to be performed. Was hoping to have that done before going to Columbus but just hasn’t taken place yet. The engine for that test is on a docking cart now and is just one set of heads away from being ready.
