I dont want to cut up my original radio but since it will never go back to 6 volt during my lifetime and will never remove the stereo it might get cut up if I cant find a cheap non working radio,I did look on ebay and a couple are proud of them and did find someone on the HAMB who has a cheap one. I would really like to find a 8 tube radio that has the chrome buttons but will settle for the radio with the black buttons, converting them to a remote is sweet as the dash looks original and even the light in the dial will light up and look like its working.

There are usually several on Ebay-much more common then the 56 ones and cheaper too.

Jeff: If you don't get one here, it's my experience that 55's show up at auto swaps quite often.

I am looking for a radio for a 55 fairlane,it does not need to work but the push buttons must be complete and not all buggered up and the dial in decent shape. A guy I work with turned his original radio from his 49 pontiac into a remote for a modern stereo and he is going to do the same for me and its sweet,I have a modern stereo mounted under the seat and using a marine remote in a factory block off plate to control it but making a original radio into a remote will make the dash look better.
