We'll see how they look after a couple hard runs at Irwindale next weekend. Wink

Racing in middle of winter... God, I'm jealous.

I just dig up one Fairlane from snow and installed block heater to my Mustang. No racing here...

..... Also tried a little trick that was suggested to me, swab the inside of the new chrome zoomies with grease to keep them from bluing.  Seems to be working so far.  We'll see how they look after a couple hard runs at Irwindale next weekend.

Tim.  This is the first I’ve heard of the ‘grease’ trick on the inside of the chrome header tubes.  You’ll have to keep us posted on how that works and what the heated up grease specks look like when coming out of the tubes as the engine is under load as it goes down the track.

I also heard that grease or oil on the inside of headers for the initial start up would help prevent blueing. Never tried it though. Chuck

Don't worry guys, It seems to have cleared all the greese out on the first run.  You can't tell that there was any in there. Wink

Master, are you gonna be coming out to Mooneyes?

MOONEYE's Christmas Party. great show for $5 a head. I want to go sooo bad. Irwindale Raceway is only ~40 miles NE of me. 105 to the 605 and I'm there. (Yeah, I know. East of Pacific Coast Highway :ermmSmile. Unfortunately the Soccer Playoffs my Best Buddy (Grandson) is in is on the same day. Much higher priority.

Would have loved to see you run... Hope you and your "Crew" have a great time.

Mooneye's was a great "car show" but for me as a racer it was a bit of a bummer. First of all there wasn't many "Dragsters" so we had to do a lot of waiting for the AFX cars to do their thing (They did have a competition going with prize money at stake) also there was a few wrecks, a few oil downs and a lot of delays. By the time I finally got on the track I did my burnout and when the tires cought all I heard was a clunking metal sound. Sheared all the studs on the torque converter! Well I guess the power of an old Y-Block is just to much for a Hughes converter. lol I'll have it fixed soon and we'll be ready to run next year.

Rocky Phillips< my friend who puts on the Eagle Field show had a fun ride himself!

Tim.  Thanks for sharing that video.  That dragster out of control would definitely get my attention.  And that was pure luck in not tagging either wall.
