Thanks for the advice Ted. My current motor uses a '57 and latter dizzy with a pertronix ignition and an MSD Blaster Ignition box and Flamethrower coil. I'm happy with the performance I get out of it, but when I dynoed it the first time, I blew the guts out of the dizzy and turned it into NAPA for a core and another replacement. I was just thinking that these billet dizzy's whether Mallory or MSD would be made better and would hold up better.

Almost any electronic ignition including the Mallory will be sufficient for a street blown application providing it’s using recommended components with it.  For a supercharged application, you’re going to want a good healthy spark so the brand name is not going to be as important as how the overall ignition system is set up.  Where the boost pressures are going to be serious, you’re going to want an MSD or other comparable ignition box to boost to the spark.

guys;

Mallory's electronic Y-Block distributor does not have a vacuum advance. So, if you are building a blown Y-Block where you would normally block off the vacuum advance anyway, would this be a better choice than a '57 and later Y-Block distributer with a Pertronix ignition? I was going to use a Barry Grant Carb with mechanical secondaries set-up with a blow through.

Thanks,

Rono
