Saturday I went to the jalopy showdown drags at Beaver Springs Dragway. Pre '64 cars. Turns out it was heads up racing instead of handicap so I didn't have a chance. Three classes, big block, small block, and fours, sixes and flatties. I had fun anyway and the east coast gassers were there with 16 cars. I'll post some pictures of that tommorrow. I set up the canopy and hung up the y blocks forever sign. I was wearing my y blocks forever tee shirt, and another guy wearing one came over. Never met him before. Dennis, anymore info on the 57 custom, looks like it's been a race car for quite awhile and you have got to love the blown Y.

Glen, I don't know anything more. Later on in the day there was a for sale sign on it. The trailer has Delaware tags on it and I think 13 was a strip in Delaware.

Here's some more pictures. This would be a good place to have a y block event, the owner is a ford guy. When I came in the gate, he was there to sign you in. He told me he has a 55 t bird that his dad bought new. He also has a 63 galaxie 427.

Looks like "Gasser Wars". Where exactly is this track? Could be considered for an East Coast Y-Block meet. I'd like to see some of our hot shoes running in this competition anyway. How about it Ted, Jerry, John, Royce, Frank, etc. etc. etc.? Should we look for a good date? Chuck in NH
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

Chuck, it's www.beaversprings.com it takes me 2 hrs to get there. It's about 50 miles north and slightly west of Harrisburg PA. I've been there for a couple of test and tunes, but this was the 1st time to race. Entry fee was $20.00 can't beat that. The jalopy showdown was 1/8 mile , but the gassers ran the 1/4 mile. They had a hotdog race, contestants had to drink a cup of soda, eat a hotdog, run up to the 60' line, throw your cup in a bucket, run back, start your car and race to the 1/8 mile. That was fun to watch. The owner says he has the best job, his friends come to visit him and they give him money.

Great pictures, and the pictures on the website were "awesome"! I'd rather watch racing like this then the currant NHRA TopFuel/FunnyCar racing that now exsists.Like to see more of this style racing here in SoCal--and only 10 bucks, unbelieveable. KID

Great stuff Dennis. Gotta love the blown Y-Block. Judging by the weather, it looks like you were in England not PA.
