I purchased a crank thinking it was for a 292 truck engine but my machine shop said it was for a 332 Ford truck engine, used in 1958 & 1959 only.  Crank is excellent cond and appears to be NOS.  I'm in Birmingham, AL., need to sell, might trade, need 312 engine, and/or 312 crank.  email for photos/offers gadams2@bellsouth.net

Anyone???  Will the 332 crank adapt to become a stroker for a 292?

You gotta have the right tools and know how to use 'em.

Gary, are you wanting a steel 292 crank or a 312 crank? What are your plans, what is it going in? I maybe able to help you out with a steel crank. I don't have an extra 312 crank right now, but I'm always looking, might run across one anyday.

Gary; You need to contact people involved with F.E. engines. There was or is a site for them.

The bore centers on the 332 LYB engine are the same as the FE engines.  By the same token, the 332 LYB crank is not to be confused with the 332 FE crank as they are not the same as the main and rod bearing sizing is different among other things.  The difference in bore centers between the LYB and the Y makes the rod journal spacing of the LYB crank too wide for a Y but the 3.66” stroke and the 312 main journal sizing still makes you look twice at it.

Glenn and all who responded,

Thanks to all for your suggentions and comments ... very helpful.  I found a crank for my 292 and am building it.  I want to start on a 312 engine for future use.  I know of an engine I might could get but has a bad crank, thus the need for a 312 crank, or complete engine.  Glenn, please send your email address for future contact.

I'm in Birmingham, Al.      gadams2@bellsouth.net

Thanks,

Gary
