Hi, I've been looking at this site for several years now and thought it was time I jumped in and joined the group. Presently I own three Fords, a 1955 Ford Tudor - undergoing restoration, a 1958 Aussie Mainline utility and a 1958 Aussie Customline (which is in the process of going to a new home) - got to make room for our toys. My two Aussie cars are fully roadgoing whereas my 55 is a project in progress, though it is a great body out of California where it had been parked up since 1963. No doubt as I get further into the resto I am going to need some advice from you more experienced tinkerers. I intend to keep it pretty much original, though will be upgrading the car to power steering, power drum brakes and boring the engine out to 292 with four barrel. One thing that may be astumbling block is the throttle linkage bolted to the rear of the engine. Currently the setup is for a 2 barrel. Did Ford fit a different setup for the four barrel or did they modify this bracket? If so are these brackets available?

Over the years I have dealt with Aussie Bill (Cusso Bill) and found him to be a great source of parts and expertise.

The two bbl and 4bbl linkages were very different, at least the automatic ones. I am not sure about the stick shift cars.

Rick, welcome to this brains trust of expeirence and knowledge, fortunatly we dont suffer too much unnecessary dribble like other sites. If your 55 tudor is manual trans and you fit holley 4bbl intake then you may only need rod from firewall lever to carb pivot. Best regards bill.

Welcome to the site . I'll have to ask Jim to do a head count on how many Aussies are on board .?? I am pretty sure we are ahead of the Canadians .Cusso Bill is the best source for Y-Block parts in Au ,and is very helpful as well .

Hi all

Thanks for getting back to me.

My car is a Ford-o-matic so I figure I need the whole shebang to replace the 2 barrel linkages and maintain the kickdown for the auto. It looks like I could probably modify the existing bracket but I want to keep the car as original looking as possible with the exception of the fuel system.

My 292 in my Mainline uses a 465 Holley which gives it plenty of go for the street with reasonable economy and I would like to have the same on the 55 once I have it on the street.

I have been watching ebay for months but have never seen any linkages come up.

Anyone got any ideas where I can get one from?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the best Y Block site in the world. Tons of info here. If you cant find any linkage to fit you can make a straight rod from firewall to carburetor and drive that car till you find one. Easy to do . But, if you go the 4bbl route you need the whole shooting match to make it work. I will see if I have something that will work and let you know.

I do need to know one thing . Who was in charge there when it came to naming cities there? You have some of the greatest names . They are cool . Coober Peedy, Geelong (great town Moz),Brisbane and many more just neat names.  Who ever named all the towns needs to be applauded for their work.
