Hi all,
Im in the process of replacing the weatherstripping on our 56 sunliner, among other things. I was never really happy with the way the vent windows fit together, and i think i know why.
At the upper back corner, where the top of the division bar/glass run meets the top edge of the vent window frame is an "L" bracket that gets rivited in place to connect the two parts. Does that make sense? The one that was apparently used at some point in the cars life is really thick... so thick that the seal at the back edge of the vent window doesnt fit flush to the division bar. That "L" bracket is the part that i am trying to find. I dont know if it is unique to the convertible, or if they are unique between right & left sides (I need the drivers side)
Anybody have one available that they would part with for a really reasonable (cheap) price? If push comes to shove, I could probably use a dremel to grind down/thin out the one that i have, but i would really prefer to get the right bracket in the first place.
Another weird thing, that i think is probably related, is that both windows division bar have "general tire" stamped on the side of the glass channel. Im assuming that these were replacement parts used a while ago, although i think it is weird that they would have done both sides. Anybody familiar with these? And I did find/use the OE upper L bracked on the other side, with the "general tire" division bar, and it worked/fit much better than the thicker bracket im trying to replace.
If you can help, please email me at rongrove(at)comcast(dot)net.
THANKS!
