Further Question regarding removing Oil Pan in Car. Ford Manuals says other than removing Fordomatic inspection Cover from front of Trans and turning Engine to #5 Cylinder to TDC the Pan should be able to be removed. Accurate Info or does Sway Bar have to come off too. Anything else?

I have had and still have very good results of just putting a dollop of ‘Ultra Black’ RTV in the side seal holes before installing the rubber side seals in the slots.  Pushing the side seals down pushes the RTV ahead of the seals and when I see the small extrusions of RTV coming from each side of the interface at the bottom of the seal holder and the block, I know that the RTV is where it needs to be.

Here’s the link to the article that was originally published in The Y-Block Magazine which gives much more detail on the rear oil seal installation

Do You think clear Silicone is best choice for this fix?

I find that the issue is that the sealer didn't go all the way to the bottom of the side seal opening to ensure a 100% seal.
Sealant should only be applied to the side seal opening, not to the out side of that.

it is intimidating that applying too much is not good either as it can get out into the engine and potentially clog an oil port!

My rebuilt Engine is leaking from rear Main Seal. I will have to redo it. I used "The Right Stuff" instead of side Seals. Last Time I did this it worked fine. Maybe a problem with Seal Retainer.. I looked at Mummerts Video showing how He does this Seal. He uses clear Silicone to glue the Side Seals to Seal Retainer about 3/4 of the way down the side of Retainer. I can't tell if He also applies Silicone to outside of of the Side Seal. Does He? Is clear Silicone the best choice for this or is Black or even "The Right Stuff" a better choice? I am going to use Side Seals this Time and hope that fixes my Proble. Engine is dry everywhere else.
