For any of you who have a CRT distributor, could you provide what combination of springs & bushing you're using and the level of performance of your engine?

I Revisited the charts that come with the CRT distributor and concluded the silver springs and silver stop bushing would be best for my engine combination. I then discovered a post from 2 years ago on this forum in which Ted said that the CRT distributor has the 2 silver springs and silver stop bushing preinstalled, and that combination is suitable for most Y-blocks. He added that the adjustable vacuum advance can provide too much advance as delivered and needs to be adjusted accordingly.

(Stock 292) I am using one silver and one gold spring.   The medium advance stop bushing.   Four turns out on the vacuum advance port, connected to manifold vacuum. 15 BTDC initial timing

Has anyone found that the gold spring has more tension than the silver spring? Everything I found indicates that the silver spring is the medium spring, the black spring heaviest, and the gold spring lightest. However, someone on another forum swears that the gold spring has more tension than the silver spring. The same person said that the wire gauge & diameter of the silver and gold springs are the same, but the silver spring has more coils. He did say that the silver spring had been installed, whereas the gold spring had not. Could it be that the silver spring, having been installed, could have lost some tension? I can't think of any other explanation, other than CRT's information is incorrect, and all others are just passing along the same information. 

I would contact CRT for clarification, but that's easier said than done. 

I removed the cap and rotor and found that the silver (medium) springs had been installed, along with the gold (smallest) stop bushings. I exchanged the gold bushings for silver, kept the silver springs, turned the vacuum advance to full clockwise, and backed off one full rotation. I don't know when I'll be able to test it, but I would like to hear from anyone who has this combination.
