I've had one in my 56 Victoria for over 10 years. The adapter was a bit expensive but worked very well. I got it from Bendtsen's. Do a search, they are all about the same except for price.
I have a 3:70 or so rear end with a posi from Detroit gear. Rare I know. I've driven halfway across the country multiple times and the supercharged engine is very happy around 70mph and I saw 17.9 Mpg. I often go to the drag strip and love the performance there although learning to manually shift the AOD is a thing to learn. Best run was a 14.2 at 99mph. You can get all sorts of performance addons to make the AOD

even better. Even if the trans failed I'd just look for another one.
Y's guys rule!
