Also be aware that this style of DIST has a single breaker plate and it rides on ball bearings underneath. If the bearing balls go bad, the breaker plate may not advance or retard correctly.

If you fail to find that vacuum advance chamber on EBay, then you can try some of the older Ford and Thunderbird parts suppliers.  That same chamber was used on the 1957-1959 Ford, Mercury, and Thunderbird cars on the Y-Block, FE, and M-E-L engines.  There’s probably someone out there making new replacements or rebuilding the older ones but a quick search did not find those.

Here’s a link I found for a new old stock unit.

I'm not able to find a correct replacement vacuum advance for 57 y-block 292 engine. It needs to have a straight linkage as shown in first picture below. All I'm able to procure is offset linkage as shown in second picture below. No suppliers show good pictures. Distributor is marked with "FoMoCo FEU-12127-A " as well as "FEK12131-B ". First picture below shows the damaged existing advance. I expect prior owner tried to rotate distributor with length of pipe over the vacuum fitting and bent it. I've ordered replacement twice and gotten offset linkages. First supplier was Amazon. Second supplier was Dennis Carpenter B9AF-12370-A (shown in second picture). It looks like LMC 47-1414 might be offset link as well, but it's hard to tell. Does anybody know where I might find one? I haven't seen anything from ebay either.
