Both the 239 and 256 engines were used in the1955 Ford trucks.  Unlike the 1954 engines, these had the smaller journal camshafts, hex drive oil pumps and shafts, new design fuel pumps, and larger diameter water pumps similar in design to the 272 and 292 engines that were also introduced in 1955.

Was the 256 used in 55 for trucks ?  If have heard it both ways.  And if so, was it based in the 272/292 configuration like the late 239 was ?  Or was the 256 always based on the early 239 ?
