Why does starter just spin before it starts. The starter motor is good, the bendix is new. When I start from cold, I depress the accelerator once, it starts right away.
The next time I try to start it spins out, try again spins out and then it spins and then starts.Any suggestions would be appreciateed

A defective starter bendix (drive) is at the top of my list. Other suggestions are always welcome.
