As a Y-Block fan I truly appreciate this website.  It is a wealth of information.  Thank you.  I have been working on a display of intake manifolds I have collected over the years.  I believe the Y-Block is one of few engines that offered various intake manifolds to support the different 2 bbl and 4 bbl carburetor configurations offered from 1954-1964.  As I began to clean the intakes, I became more interested in the information cast into each manifold.  I have had limited success obtaining information about the Date of Manufacture Code and its location on blocks, heads, and intake manifolds.  Has anything been written on the subject on this site or can you direct me to where I might find such information?  Thank you.

Date codes are normally only 3 or 4 digits.  The early cylinder heads have the date codes on the exhaust port side of the head while the later model heads have those date codes in the valve spring area under the rocker arm shafts.  Intake manifolds typically have the date codes on the top of the runner behind the carburetor.  The date codes on the blocks are usually found on the right side of the block.  Nothing set in stone on any of this as you will find exceptions as to where and how the code dates are displayed on the castings.

When looking at the ECZ-B 4V intake manifolds, take note of the ones that do not have the firing order on them.  Those are typically early production intakes (Aug-56 to Apr-57) and those ECZ-B manifolds cast after that time frame will have the firing orders on them.  February 15, 1957 is also a date that's thrown around as to when the firing order on the ECZ-B 4V intake manifolds was started.  Starting with the ECZ-B 4V manifolds produced for 1958 and newer, the heated crossover tube for the carburetor choke was discontinued as the right-hand exhaust manifold was then used to provide the heat source for the choke.

Here are links to some past threads regarding date codes.  Performing a search on this site will bring up some more.
