Is there a gasket gor the cover for the flywheel? I'm assuming that piece is the dust cover.

If you are talking about the crescent shaped sheet metal piece that covers the lower section of the bell housing, there is no gasket.

Isn't there fluid inside the tranny at that place?

The fluid is inside the transmission and the torque converter and not around the flywheel.

Yes, there is a seal - BASIC PART NUMBER 6411

The fluid is contained within the TORUS ASSY. The TORUS ASSY bolts to the flywheel.

There are two paper gaskets -

1) TORUS COVER to FLYWHEEL - BPN 7945

2) FLYWHEEL TO CS FLANGE - BPN 6377 (You indicated that you don't think you need that one)

NOTE - There is also a starter motor to bell gasket - BPN 6436

Am I correct in assuming that the gasket I need is just on the rear side of the cover?

The seal itself attaches to the front of the duct cover. All it does is keep road dirt and splash form entering the bell.
