I’m replacing the Pertronics with the CRT. The Pertronics has a rev limiter, the CRT doesn’t. I want a rev limiter to keep from over reving the engine.

Pertronix claims that their 600 Rev Limiter is compatible with aftermarket electronic distributors, and it's a 'soft touch.'

I think auto correct kind of scambled the original post. But if I understand, you want a rev limiter on the CRT. I looked, I don’t see one on their site. So I’d call them and ask for a recommendation. I’ve used MSD’s for years with the Rev limiter and in most cases boost retard. They just work, but it’s not cheap by the time you buy the right unit and the add on modules. Somewhere along the line I had a rev limiter that wasn’t a “soft touch” or intermittent. When the revs dropped, the exhaust system was full of fuel, and it was somewhere between an explosion and a flame thrower. I don’t recommend those.

I believe that switch has to be used with a controller, Like the MSD 6AL. What does the Pertronix Ignitor lll conversion have to do with the CRT distributor?

Their Ignitor III conversion kit for the standard Ford Distributor has a built in adjustable rev limiter. Summit has one for about $55 called an RPM activated switch and it’s the lowest price one I’ve seen. Wondering if anyone has used it or something else. MSD has a module with a rev limiter but it’s expensive and not sure how it would work with the distributor.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Pertronix covers ion with the built in rev limiter." I intend to use a Pertronix 600 Digital Rev Limiter with my CRT distributor, but with tax, you'll be looking at about $200. I figure it will be good insurance, considering the C4 transmission I'm building will have a Dynamic Racing Transmission lightened secondary governor weight that will allow full-throttle upshifts at 5600 rpm.

I’m about to replace my Ford distributor with a Pertronics covers ion with the built in rev limiter with a CRT tach drive distributor. I’m looking for a recommendation for good separator rev limiter that won’t break the bank.
