Assuming the connecting rods are rebuildable, I get $10 each for the ECZ rods. Because I do custom pistons in a majority of the Y builds, I’ll use the longer C2AE rods so I do end up with an excess of ECZ rods as a result. COS is correct in that adding shipping and rebuilding costs to the rods adds significantly to the final cost for a set of rods. The dyno mule actually had 1070 dyno pulls on it before being loaned out. The rings and bearings at that point checked out as being good and that 312 has had over 10K miles put on it since then powering a ’32 Ford a couple of times across country. I do have the engine back and it will be returned back to being used as a dyno mule this winter to test some new Y headers as well as the new Mummert single plane intakes. Some additional history on the engine. At around the 350 dyno pull mark, a cylinder wall developed a crack requiring a sleeve in that cylinder. The same rings and bearings were reused as they did not exhibit any wear. Another 720 pulls after that and the bearings and rings still looked good. The engine does have the factory ECZ rods which had been simply resized with new bolts back in 2008.

cos ; Thanks, the crank is a 20/20 under & never re installed. .Me thinks you are a bit hard on the 312 Rods. For any reasonable use, for instance, they are shorter than 272-292 rods & for example, Ted Eaton has used them on his Dyno test mule engine for over "350 test runs" without issues...

In my opinion rods are not worth price of shipping By the time they are rebuild, the cost is almost price of aftermarket and still have a wimpy rod. A standard 312 crank that's not hurt 350. One that been turned. value starts going down. Probably cost two dollars a pound to ship now..
