Never had a wheel hop problem with a homemade set of traction masters or the original set I have now. Could be shocks, broken springs or improper installation. Car has to be level with all of the weight on the rear suspension when you weld the front mount to the frame .

The 55 Bird leaf springs are narrower then the 56 Bird and I don't know about the Fairlane so you might want to measure. I had to weld in wider front spring perches for my Caltracs to fit. I know your car is low so make sure your shocks are not bottoming out and causing your wheel hop. The Caltracs will lift the rear instead of it squatting so you also need to have enough shock length travel or you will pull your rear tires off the ground when it lifts. Been there done that.
