Is this intake/carburetor worth this kind of money?

What I forgot to mention in the first post that its' being an EDEL 548, that it is for a 1954 239 or 256.

I also a$$-u-me the CARB is 256 specific. What in the world would make this so valuable to someone?

Are they becoming scarce?

It's a rare piece, but that kind of price - no no no.  The carb isn't anything special at all.  I'd be curious what a stock 54 Mercury intake (4 BBL)  goes for today.
