How much is the rocker arm supposed to move? I have the pump off the car and checking it out. It doesn't move much, maybe a half of an inch. I'm cleaning the gunk off everything that came off the engine and will need help trying to figure out if they are good, need to find rebuilding kits etc.

You can probably get the kit from Then and Now Automotive. Here is their website: https://www.then-now-auto.com/ Then can get you a kit for your pump and they can also rebuild it for you if you like. Great people to deal with. Dan

I've never measured it, but the eccentric that moves it is not off center that much. Any one have an eccentric off their engine that can measure it?

I checked two different fuel pumps off of my '54 Fords, an OEM pump and and aftermarket pump and the arms on both moved up and down only 1/4".

Yeah, that's about all mine moves. I thought it was stuck. Locating rebuild kits will come in handy. I'll be needing power steering pump kit, power brake master cylinder kit, wheel cylinder kits ,possibly starter kit ( if there is such a thing), oil pump kit. These are cleaning up nicely, lots of work, but since they say for 57 years, I'm pretty sure the insides need rebuilding. I tried checking the starter using an ATV battery and was told it just might not have enough power to turn it. It just sparks. I have no idea how to check all the other units I mentioned above to see if they are good, just rebuild them. So if anyone knows how to do this, I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks

Don't underestimate the lasting quality of these 1950's OEM Ford parts. It takes quite a few amps to crank those old 6 volt starters so an ATV battery will never do it. I know lots of guys who have converted to 12 volts but retained their original 6 volt starters which crank the engine faster but don't burn up. You can safely test your starter with a 12 volt battery and some jumper cables by connecting the positive cable to the starter case and then briefly touching the negative to the stud on the starter where the solenoid cable would attach. If it spins rapidly it is good. I rarely find one of these old starters that will not work. Again, don't be so anxious to rebuild your power steering pump, valve and ram. All four of my '54 Fords and Mercurys that I have restored have OEM power steering which I salvaged as used parts from the many '54 Fords and Mercurys that I bought for parts. Of all four PS systems that I salvaged, I only had to rebuild one pump and one valve as the rest of the parts worked well and did not leak. You should rebuild the Bendix PB unit (complicated and expensive unless you are able to do it yourself). I think that Concourse parts has the rebuild kits if you want to do it yourself rather than pay $400.00 to $500.00 for a professional rebuild of your core. Wheel cylinders are cheap and readily available through NAPA or Rock Auto. Good luck on your project.

It's good to hear that these old parts may still be good as is. The power steering pump still has the red fluid in it. Doesn't show any signs of leaking. I'm not sure of the power brake unit I have. Is it a master cylinder and booster together?

What you have is a Bendix Treadle-Vac, like the one used on my '54 Mercury convertible. After my last post I checked the Concours catalog and it looks like they only offer a rebuild service on the Treadle-Vac for $400.00 if you supply the core. However, there are sellers on EBAY who are selling the rebuild kits for about $100.00 (see EBAY item # 174750855570) but make sure that the kit you buy is for the '54 Lincoln unit as there were a number of variations on these Treadle-Vacs which were used on many different makes of vehicles in the '50's and '60's.
