I need my treadle vac rebuilt. I removed it and opened it up, but I learned that it does not match the repair manual. On the end of the master cylinder, it has 53Y and below that has L-M.  I am guessing that it means 1953 Lincoln/Mercury. My car is a 56 Mercury Montclair. I am having a hard time finding a rebuild kit for that type. I also think I may be better off just sending it in for a rebuild and test by a professional.  Who is the recommended guy for this? I see several on the internet, but I would like to go with someone that is recommended/used by guys here. From what I have read, this is the slide valve type. From the rebuilding sites I have looked at, several say that they rebuild all types.
A little description of my problem with it:  I have NO power assist. Very hard to push pedal. When I push on the brake, the vacuum gauge does not flinch a bit. I have 19 on the vacuum gauge at the manifold, have good vacuum going to the treadle vac.
Anyone have this problem that they already solved?
