In April of 1957 NASCAR banned a lot of stock parts that were currently used. Every manufacturer was hit. Superchargers, 3-2’s, 2-4’s FI etc we’re banned and only 4 barrel carbs allowed. It stayed that way until recently. Big blocks took a hit in the late 70’s I think making them not competitive.
Over the years each brand was hit with an individual rule at times and that is still happening. For 2022 it looks like the only differences in cars will be the engines and we are lucky to see that. Every NASCR Truck uses an Illmor 396” spec engine no matter what brand. This year I’m looking for pit crews, stops and strategy being the biggest factor. ….
