Are reconditioned EBU rods adequate for a 292 making less than 300 HP? Are C2 rods really that much better?

My guess would be yes especially if you plan on keeping it under 5000 5500 RPM. Curious as to what others think. The ARP bolts are a big plus. Had a stock rod bolt fail on the early rods back in the day.

In my opinion, the EBU rods are more than adequate.  The only question mark on those and the C2AE rods would be using the original rod bolts which could be as much as 65 years old.  Being that old, both fatigue and cycle time are reasons to replace those original bolts with new ones. I do consider the C2AE rods a stronger piece so if those are available, I prefer to use those for performance applications where the horsepower numbers are going to be in the 350-400 HP range.

Like most connecting rods, it’s more about a horsepower limit rather than a rpm limit.  Those EBU rods with a good bolt set will take almost rpm you can throw at them assuming the rod bearing and piston are not factors throwing an obscene additional load on the connecting rod.  With good bolts, I would consider 6500 rpm a safe limit but you are going to find people out there that will claim to have gone in excess of 7000 rpm regularly with the stock EBU rods.  To get past 6000 rpm the engine will definitely need an upgraded valve train.
