My 292 is running this distributor- not sure if the photos help at all.  Does anyone know what part number I want for a new cap?  Do I need a Mallory cap or will something at NAPA fit?  Not sure why photos are sideways...

Thanks.  http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/847bf413-880c-4ff2-9931-103f.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/4fd303a5-346b-455a-8db0-f844.jpg

I can't help with a cap number you need,  but in the second picture there is a tag by the lower portion of the clip. On that tag should be a distributor number that should allow you to figure out what distributor you have and what cap you need. I am not aware of any other caps that fit Mallory distributors, but it used to be fairly easy to get Mallory caps at parts stores. However, its probably been 10 years since I bought one so not sure if that is still true.

A Mallory Cap Part No. MAA-209M should do it. Summit Racing has them in stock. The distributor part number is probably facing the firewall you can use a mirror to view it. You can then call Mallory to be sure Mallory tech support 1-775-882-6600 8-5 Pacific time. Mine is (was a dual point, now has E-Spark conversion kit installed)
Mallory. IG-200 Distributor part number 263870001.
