I finally have my 292 back from the machine shop and I am starting to work on it. The first thing I noticed is the the driver's side head does not have the threaded temp sensor bung installed. Does anyone know of a source for a new one, or alternatively, a different place where I could mount a sensor. This is for a '57 T-Bird and I have a stock cast iron 4 bbl intake, water pump, and heads. There is a port on the driver's side of the water pump that I might be able mount a sensor in, but I'm guessing that is not a very good place for a sensor.

TIA for any leads or ideas.

See this thread for some alternatives.

If the heads were swapped side to side, then that bung will now be at the front of the passenger's side, under the intake.  If the sensor was installed before going to the machine shop, then this may have happened since the heads are identical, otherwise.
The water pump is not a good location for a temp sender.  I'm pretty sure that bung can be found at all of the usual vintage Ford parts suppliers.  There are two different thread sizes, I think that is based on the year.

CASCO has the bungs.  Two sizes, large for 55-56, small for 57..  I would imagine that some one like Dennis Carpenter,C & G Ford parts, Green Sales, Early Ford V8 Sales have them.  CASCO also has a removal tool.

Thanks Gents. Based on some old threads I had found on other forums I thought it was going to be a problem to find one. After the suggestions here,  I tried one of the Tbird parts supplier I use and they had them in stock although they didn't show them in their catalog.
