my shift lever has a lot of slop in it. I have held the shift arm at the bottom of the column and had wife wiggle the shift selector lever and there it is not moving the arm at the bottom. The slop is in the steering column. I am hesitant to pull it apart until I get an idea of what to expect in there. Has anyone had one apart? Is there a bushing or coupling that needs replacing? I have searched all my repair manuals and the internet and can not find any info/pictures of what is inside on a column that old. Anyone have ideas/tips?
