Best Gasket. The passage is not completely blocked but is restricted.

Best does not sell direct.  You have to get them from a supplier - which are listed.

Using some shim stock on top of the gasket at the heat riser opening before installing the intake manifold will suffice in blocking the exhaust from going into the intake manifold crossover.  If blocking the crossover, then be sure that the heat riser valve in the exhaust has been either fixed so it cannot close or has been removed altogether.

Ted, If the Best Gasket partially blocked heat passage gasket is used, does the HR valve still need to be disabled or removed?

I use the best gaskets. Before changing my manifolds to the 57-up I just removed the spring from its pin. When I changed the exhaust manifold I put in the spacer. My intake still uses the crossover heat for the carburetor choke and works fine if this helps. I only have the choke closing enough to put the throttle on the first step of the higher idle.
