I asked the question about this pump installation and received appropriate answers. I failed to ask this one question.  "With the electric pump mounted near the fuel tank as an inline pusher pump, after I have used it to prime the system, when  I shut it off will the mechanical pump continue to pull fuel through the electric pump or will the electric pump act as a blocker to the fuel flow" ????  Also as the electric fuel pump is trying to push fuel through the system, will the mechanical pump restrict the flow coming from the electric pump?  I'm hoping not to have to run parallel fuel lines.  Thanks, Charlie

Simple Answers to both Questions. No and No. Both Pumps will work together regardless if the Electric Pump is on or off.

  

You have to choose the proper pump with a stated flow-thru rating if only using as a primer pump, especially if not on a by-pass circuit..

I have used an Airtex fuel pump, they will allow a mechanical pump to pull through them. Mine is mounted on the fender wall under the hood, I use it as a priming pump on both my 35 pickup and 56 Fairlane.
