I just put a 1955 Merc T-Pot on my '54 Merc and the auto choke linkage is different.  What is the choke adjustment procedure for the '55?

I used to just loosen the cap and I would turn it until I could feel a little tension on choke plates where they would just start to open or close, all done cold. I don't remember if the carb had a fast idle cam.

The 55 Manifold has the Thermostatic Cap down on the Manifold not on the Carb.Has a long Link up to Carb choke Plate..

Thanks for both replies.

There is an eccentric cam on the passenger side of the carb with several steps for high and lower choke idle speeds during warm-up.  The thermostatic control rod connects to the cam to function the choke.  Do I set the adjustment screw on the lowest step or the highest step when the engine is hot or when it is cold.  I have already adjusted the cap spring tension to the marked factory setting but did it with the engine warm.

It should be set Cold however You can manually move the Cam so the Screw contacts the Cam high Position and adjust the speed Screw to suggested RPM. Once that is set that will be the fast Idle RPM when cold.
