So let us assume the engine, a 312,  is bored out .090. How many cubic inches would that be ?

Bore x bore x .7854 x stroke x number of cylinders = cubic inches

Sonic testing has found that about 1 in 6 of the 292 blocks can be to +.090 to +.125" if starting with a standard bore, or only .030" over.  My 2018 EMC 292 is +.112", and it has a dozen dyno pulls at the 595 hp level.  Joe-JDC

Joe, where's the thin spots. between cylinders. top and /or bottom , outside or valve side. I'm trying to visualize how the cores shifted?
Same on the 312's as the 292's?

I'd have to agree that it was a 292 that was bored out .090.
What is confusing, is that the heads and crank are from a 312.
The are all marked ECZ
One thing for sure, it runs great with 89 octane real gas (no ethanol)
Me be happy.

The thin spots seem to be near the bottom and between cylinders, with the core shift causing a lot of the problem.  When a block has already been bored .040, or .060, it is very difficult to work around core shift.  Ted has mentioned that those engines from northern states that used anti-freeze usually have better water jackets with less rust.  I have found in the seven or eight blocks I have here that the rear of the block where water seems to collect, even when torn down is where the most rust happens, and where the thin spots show up on sonic testing.  I have a couple of blocks that are good on thrust sides, but in the .080"s between a couple of cylinders and need a fresh bore.  Joe-JDC

.080 would scare me! I kike to see .125 or at least a .100. All though there's more combustion pressure near the top I think there'd be more side thrust down at the bottom.
