How do you take off the top pieces of the distributor on the top, like the one on the bottom. Press fit? I don't see any type of pin that holds it. I want to swap parts Added - These are 57-59 Distributors

In the Center of the upper Cam under the Lubrication felt should be a Clip. Holds the upper housing to Shaft.

Looking inside of the "tower" that the rotor goes on, I see two small wire like things sticking up. Is this what you mean? I don't see a clip . Push them together and the parts should release? This is a 57-59 distributor oldcarmark (4/21/2020)

That is the retainer Wire "Clip". Spread the 2 ends slightly so it pulls off the Shaft. They are sometimes a "B" to get off. Once its off the upper parts will come off the Shaft. Small Needle nose pliers and small Screwdriver are useful. Watch the Clip doesn't fly away removing or installing.

That's it, a circlip, I think they're called. Notorious for "flying" away when you try to lift it out. Keep a close watch on it.
